How to Create/Edit Permission Groups (Desktop)

What: Permission Groups are sets of users that share a similar set of permissions (via a Permission Code). Users can be added to Permission Groups individually, or in bulk via shared traits such as organizational level or title.

Note: Permission Groups can only be assigned  one Permission Code but a user can belong to multiple permission groups.

As part of the initial set-up, Tenna provides a list of default Permission Groups. These groups are pre-configured with default permission codes.
You have the option to edit an existing group or create a new group.

Who: Power Users, or users with permission to edit Permissions

NOTE:

Creating and editing permissions can only be done in Tenna on a desktop, not in the Tenna App.

Step 1.Select "Settings" in the upper right of the screen.

Step 2. Select "Permissions" Tab.

Step 3. Select "Groups".

Step 4. Select "Create Group".

Click the "Create Group" button displayed on the Groups screen which will bring you to the Permission Group Details screen.

Step 5. Name your Group.

Create a unique name for the group by typing into the text box “New Permission Group”.

Step 6. Assign Users.

You can select an individual user from the Users column to add them individually to the group section on the left side of the screen. If you select an Organization Level or Title from their respective columns, any users associated with that organization level or title will also appear in the Permission Group "Selected Users" section.

Step 7. Assign a Permission Code to the group.

  • Click in the Permission Code input box to display a list of available Permission Codes.
  • Scroll down the list and select the code or type in the code name to auto-populate.
  • Alternatively, you can use the arrows to the right and left of the Permission Code field to browse on screen.

Step 8.  Click "Create Permission Group" to save Changes.

Edit Groups

Step 1. Select "Permission Groups" on the right side of the screen under the Permissions tab.

Step 2. Click the "Pencil" icon on the Group you need to edit.

Step 3. Edit the Group.

Deleting a Permission Group

If a user deletes a Permission Group, any users that are part of that group will no longer have that Group's Permission Code. If this was the only Permission Group a user was a part of, the system would revert that user to the Basic Access permissions.

Step 1. Select the trash can icon next to a Permission Group.

Step 2. Click "Delete Group" to confirm your action or "cancel" to go back.

Step 3. Review any effected users whose permissions may be impacted by this change.
