Installation Instructions

Step 1. Link the tracker to the asset in the Tenna App

  1. Go to where the asset is located (so that you can see and touch the asset).

Note: Being in physical proximity to the asset helps ensure that you link the tracker to the intended asset.

  1. Open the Tenna App on your mobile device and log in.
  2. Using the Search function, find and select the asset that you want to track with this tracker.
  3. From the Asset page, tap Add Tracker.
  4. Follow the prompts along with these installation instructions.

Step 2. Determine the location on the asset to install the tracker

The best location should:

  • Have good sky visibility (not hidden under or inside the asset).
  • Be a flat surface (where the VHB tape will adhere) and have somewhere to attach the lanyard.

Pro Tip! If the provided lanyard cannot reach an appropriate place to attach to, we recommend purchasing a longer lanyard.

  • Not collect excessive dust, dirt, grease, or oil during routine use of the asset.
  • Be protected from impacts, abrasion, and excessive heat.

Important! Ensure that the QR label on the front of the tracker case is visible and will not be blocked by any part of the equipment and can be scanned regularly from a safe position.

Step 3. Install the tracker on the asset.

Important! The ambient temperature must be above 50°F to ensure proper adhesion. Use a butane torch to carefully heat metal mounting surfaces in lower temperatures.

  1. Scrape any loose debris from the surface.
  2. Use an acetone-based cleaner to remove grease, oil, and dirt from the mounting location.

  1. Wipe the area dry with a clean, absorbent rag or towel.

  1. Thread one end of the lanyard through the hole at the top of the tracker, then pull back through the other side of the lanyard to create a loop.

  1. Secure the lanyard around asset.

Pro Tip! Secure the lanyard first (before securing the tracker with the VHB tape) to ensure that the attached tracker will reach the intended surface.

  1. Remove the backing from the double sided VHB tape on the back of the tracker.

  1. Adhere the tracker to the clean, dry surface of the asset.

Important! The lanyard provides extra security to keep the tracker attached to the asset in the event that it is knocked off or the VHB tape adhesion weakens. Ensure that you install the tracker using both the VHB tape and the lanyard.

Step 4. Verify the tracker

Complete the remaining steps presented in the Tenna App to finalize and submit the installation for verification.

Important! The Tenna App requires the installer to capture specific photos of the installation throughout. Make sure that you take appropriate and accurate photos to assist with any future troubleshooting needs.

Complete the verification in Tenna using a laptop or desktop computer.
