TennaCAM 2.0 SD Card Health Overview and FAQ
Each TennaCAM 2.0 Fleet or Heavy Equipment camera comes with an industrial grade 128GB microSD card. The SD Card operates by storing video files from the dash camera and any additional, optional auxiliary or side cameras. Similar to the battery in your vehicle, the SD card will degrade with use.
FAQ
What factors may impact the life expectancy of my SD card?
There are many factors that can contribute to an SD card's life expectancy, but a main factor is the cell endurance or how many read/write cycles an SD card can endure before it can no longer reliably retain data.
Another main factor that contributes to SD card wear is temperature. Higher temperatures will lower life expectancy, so an installed camera that is subjected to higher temperatures (e.g. locations that get extremely hot) may degrade the SD card life.
How often should I replace my dash camera’s SD card?
Tenna recommends that you replace the SD Card in your TennaCAM 2.0 every 2 years.
Can I purchase my own SD Card to use in the camera?
No, we do not recommend that you purchase your own SD Card to use in the camera. The SD cards that Tenna carries are industrial grade and specifically tested for optimal performance in the TennaCAM 2.0 and will outlast and outperform any commercially available SD cards. Other SD cards may have inadequate capacity or speed class, or an incompatible interface.
Note: Larger, 512GB SD cards are available for purchase from Tenna. These are ideal for vehicles or assets that are heavily used and have multiple cameras, thus recording much more video. Contact your Customer Account Manager for more information.
Can I re-use an SD Card from another camera?
No, we do not recommend that you re-use a used SD card from another camera.
Pro Tip! We recommend that you keep a removed SD Card in case you need to access footage in the future. Please note that an SD Card reader will be required to view the footage.
