How to Configure IFTA for Your Assets (Desktop)

To generate accurate IFTA reports, each asset that travels across state or provincial lines must be individually configured as IFTA-compliant in Tenna.

Permission Requirements: Users with the "Create Assets" permission can mark an asset as IFTA-compliant when adding a new asset. Users with the "Edit Assets" permission can edit an existing asset to mark it as IFTA-compliant.

💥 IFTA is a premium product and requires a separate license. Please contact your Account Manager for more information on premium product licenses or reach out to Customer Support at help@tenna.com or call 888.836.6269.

NOTE: Configuring IFTA for your assets can only be done in Tenna on a desktop, not in the Tenna App.

Before You Begin

  • Confirm your account has the IFTA license enabled.
  • Make sure the asset has an active tracker and is reporting trip data.

Configuring IFTA on a New Asset

1

Follow the instructions on creating a new asset.

See How to Create, Edit and Delete an Asset (Desktop) for additional information.

2

On the Create Asset form, select "Yes" for "Will this Asset be IFTA Compliant?" under the Fuel section.

3

Use the "Fuel Type" dropdown to select the appropriate fuel type.

4

Continue filling in the remaining asset information and follow the directions to finish creating the new asset.

Configuring IFTA on an Existing Asset

1

Follow the instructions on editing an existing asset.

See How to Create, Edit and Delete an Asset (Desktop) for additional information.

2

On the Edit Asset form, select "Yes" for "Will this Asset be IFTA Compliant?" under the Fuel section.

3

Use the "Fuel Type" dropdown to select the appropriate fuel type.

4

Scroll down and click "Update Asset" at the bottom of the screen.

Important! IFTA miles and Travel Summary Mileage are two separate calculations and will not match exactly; IFTA will show less mileage than the travel summary because off-road mileage is excluded from IFTA. For more information on Travel Summary Mileage see Travel Summary Report.

Troubleshooting

If an asset does not appear in an IFTA report, check these common causes:

  • The asset was not marked as IFTA-compliant.
  • The asset has not reported enough trip data for the selected date range.
  • The selected date range is earlier than when IFTA was enabled for the account or asset setup was completed.
