Asset Miles Report (Desktop)
What: The purpose of the Miles report is to reflect the cumulative miles on each fleet asset as of current or past dates.
Trackers: Assets categorized as a Heavy Truck or Vehicle will be included in this report for the time period selected, provided the tracker is installed, verified and online and they completed at least one trip during that period.
Those assets are typically tracked with any of the following trackers:
- TennaFLEETTracker OBD II
- TennaFLEETTracker JBUS
- TennaFLEETTrackerII
- TennaCAM2.0
- TennaMINIPlug-In
- TennaMINIPlug-In Solar
- TennaINAEMP
- TennaCANbus
Data from the Miles report is paginated (results displayed across multiple pages to speed up loading time) and can be exported as “All Results” or “Only Displayed” (i.e., only displayed on that page). Each page displays 100 Assets. The default display is sorted by the “Miles as of Now” column in descending order.
Who: All users with the Asset Miles permission turned ON can see the Asset Miles report. This report is a part of the TennaCORE product suite (i.e., not tied to a premium product).
NOTE: If Data Access Controls is enabled on your account, users will only see the assets to which they have access when viewing this report.
Where: The Miles report is organized within the Asset Performance reports and is accessible via Reports on the left nav, under the Asset Performance category or via the Reports drop down shortcut at the top of the screen under Performance.
When: The default range for viewing the Miles report is as/of today. If running a report for the current day, results will be shown for trips completed up to the current time. For reports run for past dates, results will be shown for the end of that day for the account time zone. The quick date range options are Today, Yesterday, Previous Week, Previous Month. You can select a max date range of 45 days’ worth of results and can search back to the beginning of your account's history to capture each asset’s lifespan on Tenna.

- Major Category: Results in the Asset Miles report are driven by an asset’s category type. Assets categorized as a Truck or Vehicle will pull into the Asset Miles Report if they were active assets on Tenna that had Trip activity during the time period the report is run for (i.e., reports run for Today – default – will display results for all trucks or vehicles in your fleet. If you run a report for a date in the past, the report will display all trucks and vehicles in your fleet at that time. If you added a new asset yesterday, but ran a report for last week, the new asset would be excluded because it had no reported data).
- The Asset Category column group is collapsed by default. If expanded, columns will be shown for Subcategory 1, Subcategory 2 and Subcategory 3.
- Fleet Number: Asset identifier. This entry is a hyperlink to the Asset’s Details. Hovering over the link will show a popover with the asset’s image (if there is one). The eye icon on this popover will also take you to the Asset’s Details.
- The Asset Details column group is collapsed by default. If expanded, additional columns will be shown for Status, Year, Make, Model, and Org Level.
- Asset Name: Asset identifier. This entry is a hyperlink to the Asset’s Details. Hovering over the link will show a popover with the asset’s image (if there is one). The eye icon on this popover will also take you to the Asset’s Details. .
- Miles as of Now: The current miles on the asset at the report date time (today as of the time the report was run, or end of day for a specific date in the past in the account time zone).
Note: If a report is run for today (now) and an asset is current running (live), those hours will not be incorporated into the report. Miles are posted to the asset after the trip has ended and is processed (ignition: off).
Pro Tip: This report is best used for larger periods of time and is helpful to run at the end of a quarter for big picture data.
- ECU Odometer Available: Yes/No value. Whether or not an ECU odometer value is provided by the vehicle/tracker. This column will read Yes if the asset allows Tenna trackers to read the odometer value directly from the ECU during that trip. The column will read No if not allowed.
Note: Users have the option on the edit asset page to ignore ECU odometer
- Ignore ECU Odometer: Yes/No value. Whether or not Tenna will ignore an ECU odometer value, if provided, (ECU Odometer = Yes) when updating current miles for a vehicle.
Note: When the ECU Odometer is ignored, the results in the report for that asset represent the cumulative non-ECU based trip mileage as of the date selected for the report which accumulate from a baseline value set either at the tracker verification stage or later via the Edit Asset page.
When the ECU Odometer is not ignored, the results in the report for that asset represent the cumulative ECU-based trip mileage as of the date selected for the report.
Availability of ECU odometer varies by asset make/model/year.
The selection of whether to ignore or not ignore the ECU odometer is made at the time of tracker installation, and/or later at the asset level if the user has the Asset Miles permission.

Asset Miles Report FAQs
- How do I get the number of miles driven in a particular date range (quarter, week, etc.)?
The number of miles driven in a particular date range is not displayed in this report. You can obtain that information from the Trips Report by summing up the mileage values of all the trips for the selected date range, or, if you have the premium Asset Activity license, you can find this data in the Travel Summary report.
- How do I find the number of miles driven as of a particular date in the past?
Running the Asset Miles report for a date in the past will give you the mileage for your assets as of that date.
- How do I find the number of miles driven between a particular date in the past and today?
Tenna does not currently offer a report that provides a difference in mileage between today and a previous date, however, there are a few ways you could determine this information
- Run the Asset Miles report for a date in the past, and again for Today, and compare difference in the total mileage for a particular asset, or your entire fleet between that date and today.
- To see how many miles have accumulated in the asset’s time on Tenna, look at the mileage set on the asset during installation (available on the Asset Details > General Information tab) and compare that to the current mileage.
In the example above, the asset started with 124,755 miles at the time of installation and currently has 133,455.9 miles, indicating a gain of 8,789.9 miles recorded since the asset began being tracked on Tenna. Note, if miles were updated manually for other reasons, they would be displayed here as well.
- To see miles from a specific date/time, you can refer to the asset’s Trips. Click on the Trips tab on the Asset Details menu, and change the view via the drop down on the far right of the screen to "Grid View"
In the date selector, pick the dates you want to check the asset’s mileage for.
The Cumulative Miles column displays the miles driven during selected date range. Note that this section is limited to 90 days, so you may need to select your start and end dates separately.
- Use the Trips Report to export all your asset trips over a given time range to hone on in how the mileage accumulated over time.
