How to View Live Trips Overview & FAQ

What: Live Trip Preview allows you to follow the path of an asset’s current trip in progress via a live map. Live Trip Preview will only be available for asset’s with one of the below installed and verified trackers that is currently running.

Trackers: TennaFLEET, TennaFLEET II, TennaCAM, TennaCAM 2.0, TennaMINI Plug-In, TennaCANbus

Who: Users with the Maps permission enabled can view Live Trip Preview

How to View Live Trips

There are multiple ways to view Live Trips In Tenna:

From Assets (List View, Grid View, Group View, or Map View)

Select Assets from the left side navigation.

Find a live/running asset.

From List View or Group View, select an asset that shows a green "running" icon or "Live" icon.

Selecting the Live view (arrow) icon will open the Live View Preview modal.

From Grid View, select an asset that has a “Live View” arrow icon in the Actions column.

Selecting the Live View icon will take you straight to the Live View

From Map View, select the filter button on the right side of the map and select Tags > Running > Apply Filters.

Click within the map to find the asset you would like to track.

Select the eye icon to go to Asset Details for that asset.

From Maps > Live View

Select Maps from the left side navigation.

Select the Live View tab.

From the Live Asset List, select the toggle next to the asset you would like to see on the map.

This list will only show assets that are currently running.

Select the green icon for the asset and then select the eye icon to open Asset Details Page.

From the Asset Details Page, select the Map View tab.

The Map View tab will be flashing green if the Trip is live.

To view the Live Trip, select the Show Trip Path button in the bottom left.

Live Trip Preview Features and Actions

A. Live Video Stream

Selecting the orange television icon will open the live video stream (if available). This is for TennaCAM 2.0 only.

B. Current Trip Overview

When you select "Show Trip Path", the Current Trip Overview window will open. This window includes:

  • Current duration timestamp (length of the trip thus far in xxH xxM xxS)
  • Trip start details (next to the A point icon): Start date, start time, starting location’s address

C. Follow vs Overview

  • Selecting Follow will move the map to follow and center the most recent point on the map.
  • Selecting Overview will zoom out the map so that you can see the entire trip path so far.

D. Running Address, direction and last update

Speed is only shown for categories: Vehicles / Trucks

E. Path Point

The points on the map are generated from each Location Update during the trip. Selecting the point on the map will open the Location Update and provide more data: Time, Date, Location and Speed

F. PTO Event

Points on the map will show a PTO event icon (purple) if PTO was engaged during that Location Update.

G. Idle Event

Points on the map will show an Idle event icon (yellow) if the vehicle was idling during that Location Update.

H. Speed

The speed limit recorded in the top right corner of the Live Trip view is the asset’s most recent speed from the last Location Update. To view historical speeds, you can click on the individual GPS path points.

Note: If latest location update does not include a valid speed value, then the last valid speed shall be shown (e.g., if the asset had reported 75mph which was shown on live view and the subsequent location update comes with a null speed, then 75mph shall remain shown).

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when the trip ends?

When the Trip ends (asset is turned off), Live Trip Preview will no longer be available. You can view past completed trips in the Trips Report or Trip Finder.

Does Live Trip Preview show trip events like harsh braking, acceleration, etc?

No, the Live Trip Preview will not show trip events.

Why is there a pause in Location Updates for an asset I know is running?

Sometimes, the asset may not record a location update, even when it is running, because of various reasons like poor connectivity, wiring issues, etc. To troubleshoot your tracker, view Tracker Troubleshooting Guide .
