How to Use the Scanner (App)

When a QR tag is scanned it will log the location and username of who scanned it, as well as the date and time of the scan.  Scanning can be used to update assets and access asset information, and it is an integral part of the tracker installation process.

Permission Requirements: All users with the app have the ability to use the scanner.

NOTE: If you are trying to use the scanner in offline mode, see How to Use Offline Mode (App) for additional information.

1

Make sure your Tenna App can access your device camera.

This step should have been completed upon downloading the application; however, if you are having an issue accessing the scanner this could be the solution. Below are steps to allow access to your camera for Android and iOS.

Android

Open "Settings" in your device and select "Apps & notifications".

Select "App info".

Find and click on the Tenna App.

Select "Permissions".

Confirm that the Tenna App has access to the camera function. If not, turn it on to allow access.

iOS

Open "Settings" in your device and select "Tenna".

Confirm that the Tenna App has access to the camera function. If not, slide the function on to allow access.

2

Log in to the Tenna App on your device.

3

Click on the camera icon on the bottom of the screen.

4

Hover the camera over the QR tag you want to scan.

Expand the screen by clicking on the bottom left icon.

Use the flash by clicking on the bottom right icon.

NOTE: If using the flash, you will need to press the icon again to turn it off after completing your scan.

5

The QR code should register without any further action.

If the QR tag has already been associated with an asset, you will be directed to the Asset Details page.

If the QR tag has not already been assigned to an asset, you will be directed to the following page where you can:

  • Select Asset and Start Installation: Allows you to add the QR tag to an existing asset that does not already have a tracker.
  • Create Asset and Start Installation: Allows you to create a new asset to add the QR tag to.

Please see the How to Create an Asset (App) or How to Assign/Un-Assign a Tracker to an Asset (App) articles for further assistance.
