How to Update Your Notification Preferences (Desktop)

Preferences allows you to custom-configure when and how to receive your personal notifications in Tenna.

Permission Requirements: All users can adjust their own preferences as long as they have "permission" for the feature/functionality.

NOTE: Notifications can only be configured on a desktop, not in the Tenna App.

1

Click on your profile picture/initials on the top left of the screen.

2

Select the "Preferences" tab.

On the left side of the Preferences window, you will see all of the categories of notifications that are available to configure based on your personal preference. These categories are organized by various features.

NOTE: The availability of notification preference configurations is based on purchased Premium Features, Data Access Control, and Permissions. If you do not see options below a category, then you do not have access to that particular category.

Please contact your Power User to review which notifications you should be included in as well as the type of communication.

3

Configure your notification preferences.

The first time you visit this page, you will see the default configurations set by your Power User.

Important! Your ability to access these controls is based on your Permission Group. If you have areas "grayed" (not allowing you to edit), you may be part of a Permission Group that does not allow for certain Notifications access.

In that instance, the Power User has set default notification preferences for certain permission groups. Contact your Power User if you have questions.

From this window, you can:

  • Turn OFF notifications for certain categories and features.
  • Turn ON notifications for certain categories and features.
  • Change the frequency of ON notifications (Immediate, Morning, Afternoon, Evening)
  • Change the method(s) of ON notifications (email, push, message board)

NOTE: When you change your preferences, it is possible that you will not receive your messages at the same time as your co-workers. These are based on your personal preference. If a co-worker references an event they were notified in the morning, it is possible that you did not receive it yet if you opted to receive your notifications at the end of the day.

Turn OFF or ON Notifications

To turn OFF a notification, find the specific notification and select the "OFF" check box.

Once selected, you will notice your methods of communication will change from orange to grey.

In the example below, we have turned off the "Asset Created" message. This user has opted out from receiving this message entirely, in any form.

To turn ON a notification, find the specific notification and select the "ON" check box.

Once selected, you will notice your methods of communication will change from grey to orange.

In the example below, we have turned on the "Asset Created" message.

Change Notification Frequency

Select the drop down arrow below "Frequency" under the specific notification.

Change your selection based on the available options, including Immediate, Morning (8 am), Afternoon (12 pm), or Evening (5 pm).

Change Notification Method

Methods of communication include Email (envelope icon), Push Notification (cell phone icon) or Message Board (laptop icon).

When a communication method is active, it's icon is shown as orange.

To "opt out" of receiving messages from one of these communication methods, select the appropriate icon on the specific notification line. Notice the icon change from orange (active) to grey (inactive). To opt back in to receiving messages, simply select the icon.

NOTE: You cannot edit the message's audience ("Send to:") from this window. That field is configured in the Settings > Notifications window by your Power User. See Permissions Codes Part 2: How to Configure Notification Permission in Permission Codes (Desktop) for more information.

Once finished editing your preferences, scroll down and click "Save" on the bottom right side of the screen.
