How to Configure Driver Scorecard Thresholds (Desktop)

What: Driver Scorecard configurations are made up of Thresholds (part 1) and Grading Criteria (part 2).

See How to Configure Driver Scorecard Grading Criteria (Desktop) for information on part 2 of the driver scorecard configuration process.

Pro Tip: It's a best practice to have a reward and penalty plan prior to creating your thresholds so that you assign point values that fit within your organization's Driver Scorecard framework.

Who: Power Users and Users with permissions to enter the Settings Menu and view the Safety tab.

NOTE:

Configuring driver scorecard thresholds can only be done in Tenna on a desktop, not in the Tenna App.

Step 1. Select "Settings" at the top of the screen.

Step 2. Select  "Safety & Compliance".

Step 3. Select "Create Threshold".

Step 4. Complete the Threshold form.

All fields on this form are required, indicated by asterisks.

Since each threshold is categorized by a type, a best practice is create a descriptive name for your thresholds since there will likely be several thresholds within this type.

Use the drop down field to select the type from the available choices.

Assign a Priority. For example, a low priority speeding alert may be 10 mph over the speed limit, while a high priority speeding alert may be 25 mph over the speed limit.

  • Distinguish this threshold as a violation (deduction) or a reward for strong performance over a specified parameter (bonus)
  • Assign a point value

Step 5. Select "Create Threshold".

Observe your threshold added to your thresholds list as a new item. To view this threshold in more detail, click the "eye" icon.

Step 6. Continue creating thresholds until all of your grading criteria are built.

Suggested thresholds include speeding, hard braking, rapid acceleration, etc.

After your thresholds are set, you must assign grading criteria as the second step to configuring your Driver Scorecard.

Best Practices:

  • Start with the Industry Standards for specific thresholds. If there are continuous violations with the threshold put in place, start with a higher value and work the Threshold down over time with incentives to meet the desired threshold.
  • For Example, if the speeding threshold is set at 5mph over the speed limit and the drivers are constantly getting a violation for this, set the threshold to 15mph then work down to 10mph and eventually to 5mph.
  • Assign either individual drivers or fleet numbers to vehicles (if more than one person is driving a vehicle) in order to view the scorecard data. *If no one is assigned to a vehicle, there will be no data to view.
  • Have a detailed Org Chart in place so the Driver Scorecard reports can be sent to the appropriate management individuals and performance can be discussed based on the behaviors listed in the Scorecard.
  • Have the Scorecard reports sent to the Supervisor of choice on a weekly basis.
