Global Navigation (Desktop)
What: This resource will show you how to navigate the Tenna web platform via global navigation, which includes the left side navigation and top navigation bar. These navigation menus are available no matter where you are in the platform.
Who: All users have the same global navigation layout, regardless of their profile, role or permission level.
In this article:
Left Side Navigation Bar
The left side navigation bar lists all of the features available in your Tenna account based on your purchased licenses - both standard and any premium features your company purchased.
Select the "power" icon in the top left to log in or out of your Tenna account.
Select the "pin" icon in the top right to expand or collapse the left side navigation bar.
Select Knowledge Base in the left side navigation to access Tenna's Knowledge Base.
TennaCORE Features
All Tenna users will see the TennaCORE features on the left side navigation bar. These include:
- Trackers
- Dashboard
- Answers
- Reports
- Assets
- Sites
- Geofences
- Maps
- Utilization
Pro Tip! Select the drop-down arrow to access sub-nav items for particular features.
Premium Features
If your company has purchased a Premium Feature (and you have Data Access/Permissions), you will see one or more Premium Feature menu items at the bottom of the left side navigation bar. These include:
- Maintenance
- Resource Management
- Schedule
- Safety & Compliance
Top Navigation Bar
Search Settings
Selecting the top left Search Settings button in the top bar navigation opens the Search Settings menu. This allows you to narrow down which fields will generate search results.
The Default Search Settings are as follows:
Global Search Bar
Utilize the Global Search Bar to search across the platform for asset name, fleet number, category, sites, or users/contacts and much more (as configured by the Search Settings)!
NOTE: Data visibility is controlled by Data Access Control and Permissions. Some data may not be available to your or other users based on these configurations.

Pro Tip! The Global Search bar is a smart search - meaning your results will auto-populate results as you type. Use at least three characters in your search to yield the best results.
Add Item
Selecting the "Add Item" drop-down will give you the option to add an asset, site, user or category.
Reports
Selecting the "Reports" drop-down gives you quick access to all Reports available to your account. Select the individual drop-downs within to access specific reports.
You can also use the Search bar within the Reports drop-down to find specific reports based on keywords.
Notifications
Selecting the Notifications drop-down allows you to view all of your Notifications.
- A red dot in the Notifications drop-down signifies Unread notifications.
- Select "Mark all as Read" to clear this Notifications window.
View All Notifications
Selecting "View All Notifications" will take you to the Notifications page, which includes a full-page grid of all notifications. You can search, filter, sort and export notification reports from this window.
Manage Preferences
Selecting "Manage Preferences" will take you to the Users window, where you can manage your personal preferences for Notifications based on feature.

Settings
Selecting Settings in the top bar navigation will take you to the Settings feature, where you can configure settings for all of the TennaCORE and Premium Features in your account.
NOTE: Which elements of Settings that you will see and have ability to edit/configure is based on Permissions.

Customizable Icons
Power Users and Tenna Admins can customize icons for the Asset Category Types in the Settings tab. These icons are shown for the assigned asset in Map View. For instructions on how to edit these icons, view How to Create and Edit Categories (Desktop).
