FAQs

How often should I update the Tenna App?

We recommend enabling Automatic Updates to make sure your app is always up to date. Otherwise, we recommend updating it with every Tenna release (every time you receive Tenna Release Notes via email) or at least once a quarter.

Does running the Tenna App deplete my phone's battery?

It is best to have your Tenna App set to run in the background (default) so that it can function properly. Battery drainage from the Tenna App is very low, and can vary based on your device:

Device Type Estimated Battery Consumption (24 hours running)
Old / low-end Android devices 5%
Newer Android Devices 1%
iOS Devices (Apple products) <1%

How do I make sure my phone will automatically scan TennaBLE trackers?

By default, a mobile device with the Tenna App installed will scan nearby TennaBLE trackers. Ensure that your Location Services are enabled and that you have not disabled BLE/Bluetooth scanning in the user preferences of the Tenna App.

What is the benefit of Bluetooth Background Processing?

The benefits of having background Bluetooth processing include:

  • Regular, autonomous updates to the location of your assets tracked with TennaBLE Beacons without manually having to scan them.
  • Ability to leverage any device that has the Tenna App to locate and update your assets.
  • Optimized battery consumption allowing for hours of Tenna App usage without significant power drain on your mobile device.

Does the Tenna App track and capture personal data from my mobile device?

No. The Tenna Mobile App leverages OS capabilities and services such as Bluetooth scanning, locations services, camera and photos, etc., upon user permission and exclusively for the business operations of asset management across construction sites. Tenna does not track individual user's locations nor personal identifiable information.

So, what data does the Tenna App capture from my device?

The following data (with a user's permission) is captured from a device with the Tenna App downloaded and running:

  1. Device Location: The device's location is used to capture the moment a TennaQR or TennaBLE tracker is scanned, an inspection is submitted, a dispatch item is completed, or a user chooses to Share Address or Map Directions with another.
    1. This will only be captured if the user enabled Bluetooth Scanning and/or location permissions on their device.
  2. Photo Capture/Photo Gallery Selection: Several places like, asset, maintenance, inspection etc. The user will intentionally capture the photo or select from photo gallery. The Tenna App does not access the photo gallery or share photos without the user doing so.
  3. Audio Recording: There are various places in Maintenance or Resource Management where an audio recording may be requested. The user would opt to intentionally record an audio clip, enable the permission to record, and upload the audio clip.
